Jargon Buster
Usability Review - Usability research attempts to understand how people interact with technology in order to improve their experience. A usable website is a site that is user friendly. It should be easy to learn and satisfying to use.
Web accessibility - means that people with disabilities can perceive, understand, navigate, and interact with the Web. Accessibility is important in order to eliminate discrimination, which is a legal requirement.
Hosting & Domain Name - Once a website has been designed and developed it must be placed on a web server (a computer which is permanently connected to the Internet). This is Hosting. A domain name is the name of your website for example www.websolutionsuk.co.uk.
RSS - Really Simple Syndication An RSS document is commonly known as a feed and its purpose is to show you when updated content has been added to a website. RSS allows you to get the latest news in text, video and audio formats in one place as soon as it has been published, without having to go directly to the website where the feed has been taken from.
CMS - Content Management System is a tool that enables a variety of centralised technical and de-centralised non technical staff to create, edit, manage and finally publish in a number of formats a variety of content such as text, graphics, video, documents etc, whilst being constrained by a centralised set of rules, process and workflows that ensure coherent, validated electronic content.
